Nederland kent geen aardbevingen met verwoestende gevolgen. Dat komt omdat Nederland niet bij de rand van een tektonische plaat ligt. Toch veroorzaakte de beving met een kracht van 5.8 op de schaal van richter op 13 april 1992 bij Roermond aanzienlijke schade. Aardbevingen komen met name in het zuid-oosten van Nederland voor maar sinds 1986 ook in Groningen en Drenthe. Onderstaand ziet u de laatste gemeten (meestal kleine) aardbevingen:
